SMOK Stick V9 Max Review

The SMOK Stick V9 Max is the newest addition to the long-running and very popular SMOK Stick line and probably SMOK’s best stick mod to date. Not only does it feature a 4,000 mAh battery – the largest capacity I’ve ever seen on this type of device, but also comes with high-quality sub-ohm tank that can hold up to 8.5 ml of e-liquid and is compatible with a large variety of coil-heads. So if you like long-battery life, high juice capacity and prefer stick mods to box mods, the SMOK Stick V9 Max is definitely worth considering.

A Look at the Contents

The Stick V9 Max comes in the usual SMOK packaging, a rectangular cardboard box with a picture of the device on the front, and a list of contents and some legal warnings, on the back. You’ll also find company information and an authenticity sticker on the sides of the box, if you’re interested in that stuff.

SMOK Stick V9 Max

Inside the box, we have the V9 max battery sitting snug next to the included V9 Max tank and a spare coil-head (another one comes pre-installed in the tank). Underneath the Styrofoam holder you’ll also find a user manual, a micro-USB charging cable and a bag of spare o-rings for the tank. The one thing I was surprised to see missing was a spare glass section for the V9 MAx tank. As someone who has cracked a few tanks, I consider that to be a big con. SMOK used to always include a spare glass in its kits, I don’t know why they didn’t this time, but I suggest they go back to their old ways, as this is a pretty big deal. Glass tanks crack very easily, especially when they flare out from the metal frame as much as that of the V9 Max, so including a spare is a must.

Design and Build Quality

In terms of design, the SMOK Stick V9 Max battery is very similar to the Stick Prince I reviewed a while back. It has the same tubular shape with a flared platform at the bottom for extra support, and the same diamond-shaped plastic fire button, but one thing that’s different is the size. While the SMOK Stick Prince was only 24.5mm in diameter, the V9 Max is a whopping 28mm around, and 88mm long. However, the difference in size is justified by the large battery capacity of the V9 Max – 4,000mAh. That’s the largest battery I’ve ever seen on a stick mod.

SMOK Stick V9 Max

There are a few other subtle differences as well, like the LED indicator embedded in the fire button of the Stick V9 Max, which not only lights up every time you press the button, but also acts as a battery life indicator. Pressing the fire button two times rapidly will cause the button to light up green, orange or red, which lets you know how much power is left in the battery (green is >70%, orange is 30% – 70%, and red is <30%). But as far as the battery goes, it is still very similar to most other stick mods.

The tank included in this kit is called the V9 Max, but it’s basically a larger version of the SMOK TFV8 Baby V2. It has the exact same design, but a larger e-liquid capacity. The most visually distinctive feature of this atomizer is the bulging glass section that extends from the metal frame, reminiscent of a flying saucer (kind of like the Advken Manta tank). The tank itself is 28mm in diameter, in order to match the V9 Max battery, but the glass section extends to a whopping 35mm.

SMOK Stick V9 Max

Bubble glass tanks are very popular these days, and for good reason – they greatly increase juice capacity – but I think SMOK may have overdone it on the V9 Max tank. Not only does the jumbo-size glass look more than a little strange – some would even call it ugly – but it’s also an accident waiting to happen. Despite the flaring platform on the battery, this is still a stick mod, and we all know how easily they tend to tip over. Because the glass extends from the tank body so much, if your mod were to tip over, the glass would be the first to make contact with whatever surface it hits. And with no spare glass included in the kit, it could spell tragedy.

The SMOK V9 Max tank features a proprietary sleeve-like Delrin drip tip that slips over the extended metal chimney of the atomizer and is kept in place by a pair of o-rings. So if you were hoping to use your favorite 810 or 510 with this tank, I’m sorry to tell you that it won’t be possible.

Stick V9 Max Tank

Then we have the swivel-style top cap which conceals the top-filling system of the tank. It’s the same system we’ve seen on the SMOK TFV12 Prince, with that small button on the side of the top cap. All you have to do is press that button to unlock the top cap and then press your thumb against it to reveal the large fill slot. The locking feature is an improvement over the early swivel-type top caps on tanks like the SMOK TFV4, which tended to open by mistake at the worst possible time.

On the bottom, the V9 Max tank features three massive airflow slots, and a gold-plated, fixed 510 pin.

Stick V9 Max Tank

The V9 Max tank comes with two different coil-heads called the S1 and S2. The first is a single mesh coil with a lot of airflow, while the second is described as a quadruple coil-head, which basically means it’s a dual parallel wrap. They are both rated at 0.15Ω, the lowest resistance supported by the Stick V9 Max battery.

Battery Life and Performance

One of the biggest draws of the new SMOK Stick V9 Max is its huge battery capacity. 4,000mAh is a considerable leap from the 3,000mAh of the Stick Prince or Eleaf iJust3, and should give users at least a couple more hours of vaping on a single charge. That’s a pretty big deal, and should prove to be a big competitive advantage for SMOK at least until its competitors come out with their own 4,000mAh tubes.

Stick V9 Max

The Stick V9 Max features vape-while-charging technology, allowing you to use the device while it’s charging, which is a good thing too, because this device takes a long time to charge. It’s not just the high capacity of the battery that’s to blame for that, but also the 0.66A charging current. Forget 2A charging, this thing doesn’t even do 1A charging, so getting it fully charged is going to take a while.

One important thing to note about the SMOK Stick V9 Max is that it’s an unregulated device. That means it pulls power straight from the battery, and that power output is going to go down as the battery voltage drops. You’ll probably start to notice a different in performance, particularly vapor production once the voltage drops under 3.7V. You’ll still be able to vape, but you won’t get the same experience as when the battery was fully charged. That’s just how unregulated vape mods work.

SMOK Stick V9 Max

In terms of vaping performance, the SMOK Stick V9 Max delivers both in terms of vapor production and flavor, particularly with the S1 mesh coil-head. We all know that mesh really brings out the flavor in an e-liquid, and while the S1 isn’t as good as the Freemax Mesh Pro coils, for example, it’s still a very good single-mesh coil-head. However, it’s also extremely airy. I found myself having to close down the bottom air slots on the tank down to less than a quarter just to restrict the draw a little bit, and that may be an issue for some users. You can definitely tweak the airflow settings to improve your vaping experience, but I think SMOK should also offer a dual mesh coil option that doesn’t let so much air in.

The S2 coil-head is a bit more restrictive, and also offers a slightly warmer vape than the S1, but it features standard wire coils, so the flavor isn’t as good. It’s still a decent coil-head, though.

S2 coil-head

I’m not 100% sure, but I’m assuming that TFV8 Baby V2 coil-heads are compatible with the V9 Max tank, which really opens up a lot of options, especially in the mesh coil department. Also, SMOK is known for constantly coming up with new coil-heads for its platforms, so you’ll definitely be able to find something you like in their lineup.

I’m not a huge fan of that bulging glass section of the V9 Max tank, or the fact that you don’t get a spare glass tank with this kit, but there’s no denying that the SMOK Stick V9 Max has a lot of things going for it. The 4,000mAh battery extends vaping time by quite a bit, the 8.5ml juice capacity of the tank means you won’t have to fill it up very often, and the vaping performance is pretty good too. I expect this kit to be another big hit for SMOK.

The SMOK Stick V9 Max kit was sent to me by AVE40, for the purpose of this review. They’re currently selling it for only $53.90, which is the cheapest price I could find for this kit.

Joyetech Espion Tour Review – Looking for a Lightweight Mod?

Introduction: Espion Tour Kit by Joyetech

Is the Joyetech Espion Tour cheap and cheerful or designed as intended for ultra lightweight portability?

The Espion Tour is the latest offering from Joyetech following on from the popular Espion, Espion Solo, Espion Silk and the Espion Infinite. The Joyetech Espion Tour comes as a dual 18650 Mod, 220w kit including the Joyetech Cubis Max Tank.joyetech espion tour review

The Joyetech Espion Tour is supposedly designed to represent a suitcase. I’m not quite sure on that one unless you were looking at it after a Jaeger Bomb or three. The whole kit is a rather lightweight affair with the Mod made from, mostly, lightweight plastic material.

The device itself sits very well in the palm of your hand with well-rounded curves for a very ergonomic feel.

I received the Espion Tour in Green as you can see from the image above. The kit does come in four other colours.

Design and Build Quality

The Joyetech Espion Tour is a very sturdy built device despite it being made from plastic. The device itself is finished very nicely, no sharp corners or awkward protruding edges.

There is no rattle from the mod or tank so feels very sturdy indeed.

The device can be very easily fired using your thumb or finger depending which way round you hold it, all with a satisfying ‘click’. The fire button on this device doesn’t need a lot of pressure to fire and there is no movement at all from it.

Cubis Max Tank

When I first took a look at the Cubis Max Tank I thought that it would be another standard kit inclusion as I’ve not used or indeed come across it before. I was more than pleasantly surprised with it’s ease of use, the flavour and the vapor production.joyetech cubis max tank

Although the wicking and the heating element inside (NCFilm) isn’t new, I couldn’t have been more surprised.

The small pieces of cotton can be changed out with ease and as often as possible when you wish to change your e-liquid. Joyetech do state that the lifetime of the NCFilm is three months or more. On the longevity of the NCFilm, I can’t comment, but I will say, the flavour and the vapour production is very good indeed.

There is one downfall I have found using this Tank that could easily be, in my opinion, rectified. I do not get any leakage through everyday use of the Cubis Max but if I lay the Mod on it’s side or it gets knocked over then I find the e-liquid tends to seep out from the fill port between the slidable top cover and the tank itself.

Now, if there was some sort of rubber O-ring around the fill port, I feel this would stop e-liquid from coming out.

Filling the Cubis Max Tank couldn’t be simpler. Slide back the top cover at the red arrow until the cap goes back no further. Once the cap is slid across, you will be met by a sizeable slot to put your e-liquid in.

When you want to change out for a different flavour and need to clean and re-wick, that also is a simple task. Unscrew the bottom, remove the bottom plate where the cotton is seated then simply remove, throw away, clean up and insert a fresh piece.

If you wish, you may also wipe down the NCFilm or run under lukewarm water.

Joyetech Espion Tour

When you first look at the Espion Tour, I can’t lie, it was a bit of a “this is going to be crap, it’s cheap and it’s plastic”.

Quite often in vaping, as is in life, you look at something and you instantly come to a conclusion, delving further into it and using the Joyetech Espion Tour I was pleasantly surprised.
espion tour kit setup
Despite it’s lightweight feel its well built, sturdy and very ergonomic. Everything it does, it does it well and it does it bloody quickly.

You get a 0.96 inch OLED display. It sits quite neatly on the front of the device and though small, everything you need fits nicely onto it.

Initially you are met with mode (VW,TC or TCR). Coil ohms, volts, amps and each battery level. There is a whole host of changeable settings with three presses of the fire button.

Where the amps is displayed, you can change this for the puff counter or how many total seconds you have used the device.

The display is very bright and easily viewable in bright sunlight which is pleasing as so many displays lack outdoor view ability.

How Does the Joyetech Espion Tour Perform?

Well… The Espion Tour is a bit of a Wolf in Sheep’s clothing, it’s rather a beast.

Everything it does, it does very well indeed. From the device starting up, shutting down and firing, it is very quick on all counts. The menu system is easy to use due to its simplicity but this device has everything you would ever need in a Mod.

Did I mention it is plastic though?

The tank provided with the kit is rated from 35 to 45 watts (0.25Ω) though I have constantly vaped it 55 watts without a problem at all.

When you start the Mod up with five clicks of the fire button, the display lights up instantaneously and as quick as you can press the fire button afterwards, vapes straight away.

How To Install The Batteries

The answer to the above is very easy. You simply lift off the back panel via a small notch on the bottom of the Mod and insert your 18650 batteries. The polarities are marked inside the device though, for me, as with a lot of devices, aren’t marked clearly enough, they sort of blend into the background.

Certainly, if you have even slight sight issues, you may struggle. One thing to also note is, when you want to remove the batteries, there is no pull cord that sits under your batteries for quick removal which would have been a very welcome addition.
replace batteries joyetech espion tour
Joyetech do state that you can charge the Joyetech Espion Tour via the USB port and has 2A quick charge. As always, I would urge against charging batteries inside the Mod and to use an external charger.

Flavour and Vapour Production

Using the Cubis Max tank, I was very pleased not only with the flavour it produced but with the overall ease of use. The cloud production from the tank was very favourable indeed.

You’re not going to win any cloud competitions with it but you may well get a nudge in the ribs from you other half for fogging over the TV during I’m a Celebrity!

  • Excellent build
  • Great Flavour
  • Clean menu system and easy to navigate
  • Quick firing Mod
  • Lightweight
  • Ergonomical
  • Choice of colours
  • Very good battery life
  • Upgradable firmware

  • Plastic!

My Final Thoughts

The Joyetech Espion Tour was a surprising pleasure to use. This device will certainly come close to being my daily driver for work as I imagine the Mod itself will be very durable indeed.

I have really enjoyed my time with the Joyetech Espion Tour. It is a great all-round Mod, looks decent (except for the plastic), has great battery life and is very lightweight. Throughout the two week testing period it hasn’t let me down at all.

In conclusion, if you are on the lookout for a device that’s robust, will take a bashing, has good battery life and has top performance, you would do well to find a better device.

Digiflavor Liip Review

The Digiflavor Liip is a disposable pod system designed as a convenient and easy-to-use alternative to smoking. It doesn’t require any refilling or charging, so in that sense it is very similar to a tobacco cigarette. It’s also incredibly small and lightweight, making it a great choice for vaping on the go.

A Look at the Contents

The Digiflavor Liip comes in a small cadboard box with a picture of the pod, as well as the flavor and nicotine strength it comes in, on the front, and the mandatory warnings, company information and a scratch and check authenticity seal, on the back.

Because the Liip is a disposable system, inside the box you’ll only find the device itself, no other accessories. Each kit contains 2 or 3 Liip pods, depending on which variant you buy. The Tobacco, Berry and Orange-flavored variants contain 3 pods, but the Reddy flavor one only comes with two devices, for some reason I cannot understand.

The Reddy flavor – which at this point is a total mystery to me in terms of taste – is the only one of the available four flavors that comes in 0mg nicotine. The Tobacco contains 4.8mg nicotine, and the Berry and Orange ones are 3.6mg nicotine, but for some reason you get three of them for the same price as two 0mg nicotine Reddy pods. Does that make sense?

Focus On For More Vape Kits.

The Liip Disposable Pod

Regardless of which flavor you decide on, the Liip pods will come individually sealed in blister packs. All you have to do is rip one open, pull out the silicone plug inserted in the mouthpiece and start vaping. It’s really one of the simplest vaping devices I’ve ever seen, and it reminds me a lot of the disposable cigalikes of old.

The Digiflavor Liip measures only 73.3mm x 20.03mm x 12.98mm, and because its outer shell is made exclusively from plastic, it is also incredibly light. For comparison purposes, the Liip is about as small and light as one of those Bic lighters or a large USB stick, so you’ll be able to store it in the smallest of pockets and use it without drawing attention.

Because the Liip is not refillable or rechargeable, the insides are completely sealed. However, holding it against a powerful light source, you can make out the battery and the e-liquid tank inside. The battery looks a lot like on of those triple-A batteries we commonly use to power V remotes and other household gadgets, and the juice is stored in a thin cylindrical tank positioned next to the battery. I couldn’t see the coil, but I imagine it’s something basic.

Using the Liip disposable vape pod is as simple as taking it out of its blister pack, popping out the silicone plug out of its mouthpiece, putting it in your mouth and drawing like you would on a cigarette. It has a draw-activated switch, so you don’t need to press any buttons to activate the battery, like you do on advanced vape mods. It also has a white LED light at the bottom, which lights up while the battery is heating the coil.

The Digiflavor Liip has a rather large mouthpiece hole, which suggests an airier vape, but in this case appearances are deceiving. This pod system has one of the most restrictive draws out of all the devices I have ever tried, so if you’re looking for something that closely mimics the tight draw on a real cigarette, give this a try.

I only received the orange flavor for this review, and I can tell you that it is decent, but nothing to write home about. That said, I have yet to try a pre-filled pod system or electronic cigarette that tastes amazing. Flavor is definitely not the strong point of these devices, they are designed to deliver that much-needed dose of nicotine, not caress your taste buds. So don’t expect to be blown away by the taste, but know that it’s not bad either. At least the orange one isn’t, but I can’t comment about the Tobacco, Berry and the mysterious Reddy, because I haven’t tried them.

I don’t really understand why Digiflavor decided to assign different nicotine strengths to the four available flavors, as that only limits options in my opinion. For example, you can only find Tobacco in 4.8mg nicotine strength, the Berry and Orrange only come in 3.6mg nicotine strength, and Reddy is nicotine-free. What if I want to try the Tobacco in a lower nicotine strength? Tough luck, I guess.

Another small con would be that Liip pods, like most other draw-activated vaping devices, can sometimes be accidentally activated by wind. Just try lightly blowing into that small hole on the bottom of the pod system and see what happens. Now imagine holding it in your hand outdoors on a windy day. It’s not a deal breaker, as you can simply put it in your pocket when you’re not using it, but it’s something you have to be aware of.

The Digiflavor Liip is decently prices at around $25.00 for a pack of three pods. Considering that each disposable pod system produces between 200 and 300 puffs, roughly the equivalent of a pack of cigarettes, that’s not a bad price at all.

I think Digiflavor did a great job with the Liip. It’s not a device I see myself using, as I’ve long moved on from mouth-to-lung vaping, but for someone just coming off cigarettes and looking for an easy-to-use and convenient alternative, this disposable pod system is perfect. It replicates that tight, cigarette-like draw almost to perfection and delivers that dose of nicotine your body is desperately craving. The taste will take some getting used to, but as long as you find a flavor you can stand, you can make it work.

Augvape BTFC RDA Review

In its almost anything, the Augvape BTFC dripper brings some nice surprises in its airflows and plateau. It produces an excellent and versatile vape. In a word, it’s a success.

Its design is neat

The BTFC was born from a collaboration between Augvape and the YouTube  reviewer VapnFagan . The main idea was to create a dripper able to adapt to its own preference of vape depending on whether you are looking for steam or flavors, hence the idea of offering air flows up and down, BTFC wanting say ” Bottom Top Flavor Clouds “.

Cylindrical reinforced cardboard, the box is quite nice. The BTFC has a diameter of 25 mm for a height of 26.5 mm, and if the inscription of his surname on the bell is not especially discreet, it is however the only inscription of visible and its only true aesthetic defect. The 810 extra large drip tipcan be replaced by a second one, also in 810 format, which is translucent and more reasonable in width. If you do not like it either, you are free to put another one on condition that it is seamless and that it respects the format.

A 510 BF pin is also attached, which is always appreciated. However, unlike the majority of drippers that are coming out right now, the BTFC has a really deep 11mm tank that allows it to be used in dripping without having to fill it every two puffs. It is thus a dripper really exploitable as well in bottom feeder as in dripping that proposes to us Augvape.

All parts are properly machined with properly calibrated seals. The paint is slightly glossy without being a mirror effect, it does not retain fingerprints and is scratch resistant. Augvape remains faithful to the care given to his productions.

Technical Review

The essential characteristics of BTFC RDA Augvap

Type of material dripper
Diameter 25 mm
Height 26.5 mm
Weight 48 g
Mounting type double coil
Drip tip 810 in Delrin
Materials 304 stainless steel

The box includes

BTFC RDA (x1), spare parts (x1), drip tip (x2), operating instructions (x1)

The tray allows easy assembly

The BTFC plateau is one of the most successful I’ve had in my hands lately. Apart from the fact that it allows ventilation of the coils from below and laterally, the assembly of the coils is really very simple.

The passages for threading the legs of the coils are oriented obliquely downwards. In this way, it is not necessary to cut beforehand, even if they are several inches long, nothing prevents their placement. Once the coil is in place well above the bottom air inlet, simply tighten and cut the excess. The inclination of the studs and the fact that they are placed at the edge of the plate allow complete accessibility to the screws and legs.

For the placement height, you just have to make sure that by putting the barrel back without the top cap you can see the coils through the air inlets. Once the assembly is raised, the flow will be slightly directed towards the bottom of the coil thanks to a beveled part located on the top cap.

Double coil recommended

The BTFC can also be used in single coil, but to be honest, the result is not really convincing. Not that mounting is a problem, but the vape it produces in this configuration is not up to par. The fault lies with the bottom air inlets that are eccentric to better cool the double coil assembly. In single coil, it must at least go up to 3.5 or even 4 mm in diameter if we want the upward flow comes to rub elbows the coil, and still, it is not really convincing. The BTFC is definitely a dripper thought for the double coil.

Everything is in the air flow

The vape quality of the BTFC is therefore due to the placement of the coils and of course, to its airflows. The air inlets are four in number, and one could almost say that in fact, there are six.

At the top, 2 small openings separated on each side allow to act mainly on the production of steam. Just turn the top cap to change the aperture. Downstairs, two large openings in Cyclops act rather on the restoration of flavors. In reality, it is not as simple and if one opens that the top or bottom arrivals, the vape is not very qualitative.

For the production of steam, the setting is not complicated: we open all the airflows by raising the power and it’s gone. With coils that give a total of 0.18 ohm, 70 W is a bit of the maximum limit for staying in a vape that is hot, but looks like something, as long as you do not string more than three flushes in a row.

If you want a good compromise between flavors and steam, you have to play on both airflows and power. Always with the same coils of 0,18 ohm, the compromise is for me an opening of a hole at the top and of 3/4 at the bottom for a power of 40-45 W. The flavors are then quite well detailed and the steam generous.

Note that it is not necessarily obvious to see the top opening. On our black version, the top cap is also of this color and you have to play a little with the light to see the closing.

Finding your vape with the BTFC is not done in 30 seconds. It takes a little time to tame the beast and many parameters are taken into account: the liquid, the type of coil, the mounting placement, the drip tip used, the cotton, the power of use, etc. But once found, the vape is nice and tasty.

In summary

 WE love

  • Its air flows that allow a versatile vape
  • Its mounting plate very accessible and simple to implement
  • Its quality of vape
  • Its good depth of tank
  • Usable in dripping and bottom feeder
  • His finishes
  • His price

 We do not like

  • The adjustment of the air flow of the top which is not visible on the black version
  • No instructions provided
  • The logo on the bell that is not discreet

The BTFC RDA of Augvape is really a very good dripper. Its versatility is exemplary, both in its use that can be conventional or bottom feeder, as the vape it provides, tasty or steam oriented. His tray is a joy to install his coils, and its design reveals many thoughtful details. I recommend it without problem.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W – simpler, cheaper, with the same design

I admit honestly – since the release of the Sigelei 213W, it was interesting for me to touch this device. Firstly, because it had a very interesting design, secondly, because very modest (by the standards of devices with comparable output power) dimensions were added to the design, and, of course, because it was interesting to understand what was inside for a fee and how it works.

But with the usual Sigelei 213W did not work out, but we got into the hands of a “simplified” version without carbon in the case, but with the same board and the same design – Sigelei Fuchai 213W . The differences are purely “cosmetic”, so in general – it will do.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

As you can see, there are few changes in the overall design relative to its predecessor in the face of the Sigelei 213W . A slightly different color scheme, the absence of carbon, which was replaced by aluminum and in general – everything.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

On the reverse side, the device looks even slightly boring, on the other hand, it’s better than if there was any ridiculous logo there.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

The power supply button is large, ergonomically located and has a very clear tactile response. It is pressed easily, but at the same time it produces a very distinct click, which I would call even a slightly loud one. The buttons “+” and “-” are small, but at the same time spaced enough to be comfortable. There are no problems with their use.

You can also pay attention to the microUSB port, located near the screen from the end, but about it a little later.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

The display device is quite bright and just displays a bunch of information, and not very useful.

We can see:

  • Installed power
  • Selected mode
  • Resistance
  • Realtime voltage
  • Real time current
  • First battery voltage
  • Voltage of the second battery
  • Battery level in%
  • Graphic Battery Level Indicator

In short, a lot of information. For example, to know the voltage of each battery with an accuracy of hundredths of a volt is completely redundant, but it is and you have to live with it. On the other hand, if you are a fan of control – delight is provided, so many parameters at a time will not show you any more board.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

The device allows you to configure the Preheat mode , you can choose the power and time in seconds during which this power will be supplied. This only works in TC mode, but I would also like to use it in a version … A very useful function when using spirals that heat up for a long time (all kinds of fused, staggered clapton, etc.).

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

In the thermal control mode, the list of displayed parameters changes somewhat:

  • Set temperature
  • Selected metal
  • Resistance
  • Realtime voltage
  • Power for Preheat
  • First battery voltage
  • Voltage of the second battery
  • Battery level in%
  • Graphic Battery Level Indicator

The mode selection menu is also graphical, convenient, triggered by pressing the power button three times.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

On the display that’s all.

Regarding the work of thermal control: TC here is very good, at least according to my feelings. In comparison with the devices on the DNA, it is slightly inferior, but in general it works.

Immediately I will clarify – I am not a fan of shopping mall and I am floating in the variation. TK I do not like. And therefore, I argue not after a half-month test of burning cotton, but stupidly after half an hour of soaring a tank with a coil of titanium, relying solely on my own feelings.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

Connector pleased. Massive, steel, quality. There are grooves so that the devices do not “stick” to the connector in case of liquid between them. The central contact is spring loaded and coated with gold. In general – in this respect, everything is great.

Battery compartment:

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

The battery cover is folding, which is quite convenient. On the cover we see a bright warning: “Under no circumstances should you use damaged or deformed batteries.”

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

The contacts on the cover are gold-plated and labeled with polarity.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

Inside the battery compartment contacts are also gold-plated, spring-loaded.

The device receives power from two batteries of 18650 format.

Charging / Upgrade Ports:

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

As I already mentioned, the microUSB port is located at the end, it is intended only for charging, with a current of up to 2A. Software update is not supported.

Box, set of delivery:

The box is rather solid and of high quality, we have the device’s symbols and a sticker on the front that indicates the color and the address of the manufacturer’s website.

Behind – a brief description of the device and warnings.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

Inside is the device itself in a complete white silicone case and various books – a guarantee, a brief and complete guide.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

What pleased us is the instruction in Russian! . Yes, the translation is not perfect, but it is and it is very good.

Sigelei Fuchai 213W - simpler, cheaper, with the same design

The package is not rich and consists only of the Sigelei Fuchai 213W itself , the charging cable and the case. The cover is very high quality, it fits perfectly on the device and is pleasant to the touch.

In my opinion, the Sigelei Fuchai 213W is an excellent device for those who are looking for a compact and lightweight mod with high output power and extensive functionality. The overall fabrication quality of the device is excellent, the design pleases, the display that simply displays everything you can think of respects, well, a lot of thermal control settings allow you to adjust it to yourself and achieve almost perfect work with direct hands.

From the comments I would like to note a slight overload of the display with information – one could add the possibility of choosing between, say, “professional” and “ordinary” modes, so as not to embarrass beginners and just people uninitiated with an abundance of numbers. On the other hand, this is more likely a niggle. I also didn’t quite like the matte finish of the protruding parts of the case (with buttons, around the display, etc.). In the version of Sigelei 213W in the color of Gunmetal it was more interesting, but … probably more expensive in production, so again a nagging. Finding objective deficiencies is really difficult.

Yes, the board is most likely not with any resistance and not with any batteries can issue its 213W… but show me a man who regularly rises to such power? I haven’t seen one yet. Yes, thermocontrol is not perfect, but with proper skill it is configured and works very well.

In short, the Fuchai 213W in all respects is at least a good device. You want the most honest power and the best TK – take DNA. Expensive? Well, what did you want? In this case, for your money, the device is very pleasant.

Smoant Ranker 218W – Another great mod based on the Ant218 V2 chip

Smoant Ranker 218W TC box mod

Smoant have released some pretty cool mods lately and this one is definitely no exception. Powered by an updated Ant218 V2 chip, the Smoant Ranker 218W can fire in under 0.015 seconds. It features upgradeable firmware and comes with a fire bar instead of the usual button.

With a very futuristic design and topped with high quality leather, this mod is an absolute pleasure to use. Feels high end, has all the temperature controls and enough power to match any powerful sub ohm tanks or RDAs.

Great design

Very responsive chip

Outstanding performance

Packed with features

Mostly intended for left hand use

Atomizers over 25mm look a bit weird on top of it

What you get in the Ranker box

The Smoant Ranker 218W comes packed in a black cardboard presentation box. Inside you will find the device itself, a micro-USB charging cable, the user manual and a warranty card. The mod is available in three different colors: Black, Tarnish, and Camo, with black or brown leather.

Beautiful design, great features

In terms of design, this mod is one of the most beautiful we tested. We love its futuristic look, and the materials used are of highest quality. It doesn’t rattle; feels great in the hand and the leather accents give it that high end vibe.

smoant ranks 218w modThe Smoant Ranker 218W measures 92mm x 60mm x 32mm and is made from Zinc alloy. It has a spring loaded 510 connector on top and looks great with atomizers up to 25mm. You can ultimately use it even with bigger atties like 28mm or 30mm without any overhang. They will however look a bit weird due to the angled design.

The 1.35″ color TFT display as well as adjustment buttons and micro-USB slot are placed on the front. The fire bar is nice and comfortable and has cutouts for your fingers. Battery door is placed on the base and the mod takes two high drain 18650 cells.

Same great user interface

Since it uses the same chip as the Cylon, the user interface is pretty similar. And that’s a good thing because it’s one of the most intuitive we’ve ever come across. Has all your temperature controls like Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Steel and TCR and you can also adjust the wattage in TC mode.

Power curves and / or temperature curves are easily customizable. This way you can fully adjust the experience for the first 10 seconds of each inhale. The mod also has numerous safety features like reverse polarity protection; short-circuit protection, low voltage protection and over charge protection.

The Smoant Ranker 218W goes from 1W – 218W in power mode and from 200 – 600°F in temperature control. Minimum resistance is 0.1 Ohms and the firmware is fully upgrade-able. The fire bar works perfectly and the layout of buttons feels very natural. Unfortunately it’s more suitable for left handed vapers due to the placement of the display.

Performance of the Ranker mod

As you might expect, performance on the Smoant Ranker 218W is outstanding. The chip is super responsive, temperature control works perfectly and with power curves you can customize the experience to the last detail. It’s a bit on the bulky side but the design is awesome. We recommend this device to intermediate and advanced users, paired with a top range sub ohm tank or RDA.

smoant ranker battlestar sub ohm tank

How does it compare to the Cylon?

First of all, both these mods are very good performers and they use the same chip. The Ranker has a more interesting design and a fire bar, while the Smoant Cylon comes with a brighter display. The Ranker is also a bit wider and bulkier. User interface is almost identical and they both offer the same features. Another difference we noticed is with atomizers bigger than 25mm. These look a lot better on top of the Cylon due to its classic design.

Smoant Naboo 225w Vape Kit Review – The Toe Breaking Box Mod

So Has the Smoant Naboo Vaping Music Mode Got Me Dancing Or Headbanging?

The Smoant Naboo vape kit is the latest release from a company that has brought us some outstanding vape gear – so how does this one rate?

It’s a dual 18650 device with an upgraded chip that apparently hits 225w and is lightning fast to fire and comes topped with a matching Naboo or Nebulizer sub ohm tank featuring a couple of mesh coils.

smoant naboo kit review

Research tells me Naboo is a planet in the Star Wars universe and Google tells me that it’s pretty much a paradise and somewhere Luke Skywalker longed to live…make it so…

OK there’s not a lot new to this vaping set-up apart from that is the new Smoant ‘music mode‘ which I’ll get into later – however I haven’t been able to dance along since receiving this as I dropped the box on my toe managing a split nail and hairline fracture…I know I know lol.

So Smoant vape gear is on the whole very well received by vapers and reviewers with the Cylon and Battlestar Mini mods receiving high praise – so let’s find out if the Naboo can live up to its predecessors.

This was sent to me for the purpose of this review direct from Smoant – thank you – and despite that and the fact it gave me a very sore foot and back [from hopping around like a big baby] my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies or indeed revenge…honest lol…

Inside the Box

A simple yet sturdy box – heavy enough to bust my toe so be careful lol…inside you’ll find:

  • 1 x Smoant Naboo Atomizer 4ml
  • 1 x Spare Glass Tube 2ml
  • 1 x Extra Mesh Coil

Key Features

This is a full vape kit powered by x2 18650 batteries and allegedly able to hit 225w.

It’s topped with the Naboo sub ohm tank – called the Nebulizer on some sites – that features mesh coils and has a 4ml capacity – and the box includes a 2ml glass tank.

naboo vape kit in hand

To all intents and purposes the Smoant Naboo mod is pretty much like many others with a strong similarity in looks to the Smoant Charon Mini.

However what sets this one apart is the huge 2.4inch colour screen and the ability to use the lock/unlock button [underneath the fire button] to completely lock in your settings.

naboo buttons

Not only that on activating this feature the up and down buttons appear on screen as if by magic and it becomes touch screen with harpic feedback – in other words it vibrates.

There’s x3 UI [user interfaces] to choose from two that regular Smoant users will recognize and the new ‘music mode’ which in effect looks like one of those equalizer animations.

The Naboo is also utilizing the new and updated Ant225 chipset that Smoant says is lightning fast with a 0.015 second fire – it is fast but as to 225w…? Ummm…smoant naboo size comparison

As for the tank the kit comes with x2 coils – both mesh – a 0.17ohm firing between 60/100w and the 0.18ohm happier at 40/80w.

It has humongous airflow which can obviously be adjusted – however swapping out the coils has to be done when the tank is empty as it leaks bloody everywhere if filled.

Incidentally some photos out there show a pretty plain drip tip – whilst others show a very colourful resin one…

Design and Build Quality

As I’ve already hinted at there’s nothing ground breaking about the design of the Naboo – mod or tank and it really does look like the Charon Mini.

naboo and charon mini
naboo and charon mini

It’s available in four colours the rainbow version I received – black – stainless steel and red.

The fire button is on the left of the mod which means if you thumb fire with your right hand the screen can’t be seen.

The screen is crystal clear and the menu lock/unlock button is a nice touch bringing up the up/down buttons that are extremely responsive.

naboo battery door

Smoant has stuck with the battery door on the back – again with that geometric design which I have to say looks better against the rainbow than other colours.

naboo battery sled

The magnets on the battery door are very strong indeed and snap together with a satisfying click – mind those fingers.

naboo battery ventilation

Focus On For More Best Vape mods.

Toe Breaker

In fact mind those toes – I managed to drop the box when it arrived on my left toe splitting the nail at the base and causing a hairline fracture – and that’s without batteries – this is one heavy well-built kit.

So design wise it’s not earth shatteringly different from many others out there but the build quality is very good indeed – trust me lol.

How Does the Smoant Naboo Kit Perform?

The actual mod performs very well indeed and despite an upgraded chip there’s nothing a regular Smoant user or new vaper will find tricky on the menu – dare I say it’s so simple it’s almost basic…but in a good way!

naboo music mode
‘music mode’

The new up and down buttons appearing on screen is a nice touch and they work very well indeed as does the new ‘music interface’ which for this old vaper was a bit too full on – pretty though – lol.

0.18ohm Coil – 40 to 80w

OK out of the box the Naboo tank was installed with the 0.18 mesh coil with a suggestion of 40/80w.

I primed hard as there looks to be a lot of cotton in there and left it for 15 minutes.

I began at 50w and got a pretty ‘tinny come metallic’ taste – not nice at all.

naboo tank filling

Bumped up to 70w and nothing changed really apart from the metallic flavour getting warmer – the same at 80w.

I removed the coil –leaving it to soak in e-liquid overnight – and cleaned the tank out thoroughly to see if maybe machine oil was causing the issue.

OK I’ve run x3 tanks now – that’s 12mls of e-liquid give or take and that nasty metallic flavour isn’t shifting at all.

Could be my coil was tainted or just a bad one – no way of knowing.

naboo tank and coil

0.17ohm Coil – 60/100w

After the troubles with the previous coil I let this one prime for half an hour.

I knew the tank was clean of any excess machine oil but still washed it thoroughly again leaving it to ‘air dry’ overnight.

I began at 70w with a well saturated coil and again that sour nasty metallic taste came to the fore – almost like burning oil!

naboo 510

For the purposes of this review I bumped the wattage up in 10w increments to 100w but again the taste remained – just hotter.

I wasted a further 12mls of e-liquid to try and shift the taste but no go…

Oh dear…hopefully I’ve just got a couple of duff coils…because trust me compared to the other stock mesh coils I’ve tried the ones out of my box are woeful…

  • Solid build
  • Clever lock/unlock button
  • Crystal clear BIG screen
  • Choice of UI

  • My coils sucked
  • Uninspired design

Final Review Verdict

I think myself and most of the reviewers on EcigClick have been here before – “decent mod shame about the tank!

It might just be the coils I received however trust me I needed a nebulizer after vaping 24mls of e-liquid through both coils…

Although in this case the outer design of the Smoant Naboo mod is nothing new – sure it’s ergonomic if a little on the heavy side – but it looks so much like the Charon Mini the designers haven’t stretched themselves much if at all.

I do like the lock/unlock button that brings up the up and down touch screen buttons and I guess the ravers [is that still a thing] and disco goers [is that still a thing] will dig [is that still a word] the flashy music mode.

In a nutshell the mod works the coils I received don’t – for me at least – and to be honest the whole kit looks and has a very Smok feel to it.
